Certification
EDO RSS is ISO-9001:2000 certified, and has been registered since January 1996. Certification to ISO-9001 has become so important that the U.S. Department of Defense now certifies ISO-9001 registered companies doing business with the DOD as being compliant. EDO RSS received its Certificate of Qualification as an ISO-9001 DOD contractor on October 29, 1997, subsequent to successfully passing an audit by DCMC San Francisco. We are also certified by Bureau Veritas Quality International, which is affiliated with the British ISO standard.

Employee Selection & Training
It is the philosophy of EDO RSS to hire only experienced personnel. All our employees go through a rigorous screening process, including an HR evaluation of references and a multi-person interview process.
Once hired, all employees participate in ongoing ISO-9001 training programs which are designed to identify and provide for each individual’s training needs and to increase his or her quality awareness. Specific training unique to EDO RSS is typically accomplished by on-the-job training, training classes conducted at EDO RSS by outside learning groups, brown bag seminars, off-site seminar training, and continuing education courses at local colleges. The Human Resources Department maintains records of all training and training certificates in employee personnel files.

Calibration
EDO RSS’s Quality Engineering department maintains a database of all company-owned and customer-furnished measuring and test equipment. These records are periodically reviewed to analyze and adjust calibration intervals as necessary. Quality Engineering also tracks expiration dates on all test equipment, and provides advance notice of upcoming expirations to equipment users. All equipment is recalled by or prior to these dates.

Internal Audits
EDO RSS has established and maintains procedures, for planning and implementing internal quality audits to verify the effectiveness of all quality system activities. Internal quality audits are scheduled on the basis of the status and importance of the activity to be audited and are carried out by trained and certified personnel independent of those having direct responsibility for the activity being audited.
